Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CAMPUSO handles information when you use our campus chat service. By using CAMPUSO, you also agree to our Terms of Use.

Our goal is simple: keep chats temporary and avoid collecting personal data we do not need.

1. Who we are

CAMPUSO is a student project for live random chat between people online. It is not an official college administration service.

2. Chat messages

When you chat, your messages are sent live to the person you are matched with. CAMPUSO does not store chat history on the server for later viewing, search, or export.

Once a chat ends (End, Next, close tab, or disconnect), that live session is gone from our matching system. The other person’s device may still show messages on their screen until they leave — we cannot control another user’s device.

3. Information we use while you are online

To make matching work, the server may keep temporary data in memory, such as:

A random connection id from your live session
Whether you are waiting, chatting, or idle
The interest tag you selected (Vibe, Sports, Music, etc.)
Who you are currently paired with (if any)

This temporary data is used only to run the service and is removed when you leave, disconnect, or the server restarts.

4. What we do not collect

In the current version, CAMPUSO does not ask you for:

Name, email, or phone number
College ID / roll number uploads
Payment information
A permanent account profile

Please do not type secrets into chat (passwords, OTP, bank details). If you type personal information, the other person can see it — that is not stored by us as history, but it is still a risk.

5. Device, browser & network

Like any website, your browser connects to our server. Your network provider, college Wi‑Fi, or VPN may log that you visited the site (URL, time, IP). That logging is controlled by them, not by CAMPUSO.

Your browser may also keep normal local data (cache, temporary files) according to your own browser settings.

6. Cookies & similar tech

CAMPUSO may use basic connection technology required for live chat (such as WebSockets). We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell browsing profiles.

7. Third-party services

The site may load fonts from Google Fonts. Those providers have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data. We do not show ads in the current version.

8. Children

CAMPUSO is not directed at children. If you are below the age required by local law to use online services, do not use CAMPUSO.

9. Data security

We take reasonable steps to run the service carefully, but no online service is 100% secure. Live chat with strangers always has risk. Use End if you feel unsafe.

10. Your choices

You can:

Leave a chat with End
Skip to someone new with Next
Close the website anytime
Avoid sharing personal information

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date. Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
